Large-Screen MovieTheater
Named for Lieutenant General Bill
Yarborough, a member of the Army's first tactical airborne
unit and designer of the airborne "jump wings" insignia,
and for Colonel Aaron Bank, a WWII Office of Strategic Services
(OSS) veteran and a founding father of the modern Special Forces,
the 235 seat Yarborough-Bank Vistascope Theater provides the
viewer with an opportunity to be in the center of the action.
Filmed in Vistascope, a high speed 8/35 mm process that presents
a huge, stunningly clear image, the movie is designed to put
the viewer into the exciting military action and to show military
operations in a way never before experienced by the public.
Motion Simulator
Similar to the movie, the Pitch, Roll, and
Yaw Vista-Dome Motion Simulator adds another dimension by physically
moving a specially designed seating area up to 18 degrees in
concert with the film. Suddenly a larger than life film of
airborne and special operations becomes almost real. The 24-seat
simulator provides visitors with an extreme taste of what the
Army's finest are trained to do.
Video Theater
The museum contains a 50 seat video theater
that shows a changing collection of educational and entertaining
works that focus on the airborne and special operations. These
are shown regularly throughout the day.
